Learn how to make your own garden planter from a pallet with the Salvage Sister in Brighton!

The Salvage Sister taught Kirsty Allsopp how to make this trough on stage in front of 200 people at The Handmade Fair – if she can do it, so can you!

During this 4 hour workshop you will learn the skills needed to create your very own colourful garden trough, including how to take apart your own pallet and cut it down ready to build with,  plus you will take home what you make on the day!

The Salvage Sister will guide you through the build, teaching you how to use power tools and what lasting fixings to use in the garden environment.

When you’ve built your own pallet trough you will have the option to make it into a strawberry trough and leave some gaps in the sides for the strawberries to hang through, or fill the sides with pallet planks and line it with a hessian sack.

Choose which colour you would like to use to paint your trough and make it come to life ready for your garden! Once you’ve learned these skills you’ll be able to repeat this process at home to make as many troughs as you like in the future.

Please note at the moment this particular class is available on Saturday 28th of July from 10.30am until 3pm with a 30 minute lunchtime interval & 4 hours in class.  There is limited availability, the classes are small so the students get the help and guidance they need – there a maximum of 8 spaces per class. Amazing hands-on workshop – suitable for a beginner!
I absolutely loved my time at The Salvage Sister’s pallet planter workshop. As I was a complete power tool novice, I was a little worried I’d find it difficult or hold the rest of the class up, but thanks to Charis’ fun, relaxed and very helpful teaching, I came away not only with a beautiful planter (I’m so proud of it!) but also inspired to use tools at home on recycled finds. So much so, I’m already planning on doing another workshop!”
