DIY & POWER-TOOL COURSE : Learn New Skills Online with The Salvage Sister
Hi, I’m Charis Williams, better known as The Salvage Sister! I have created an interactive online video DIY & Power-tool course.
If you want to learn how to use tools from the safety of your own home, then this is for you!! Learn at your own pace, in your own time & be an absolute DIY Master!
Imagine never having to ring another handy person ?! (Or ask a family member for help… & wait 2 years!!)
Imagine YOU being independent & confident with tools…
Who am I & what do I know..
I’m a professional Artist, Designer, Fabricator specialising in the reuse of salvaged materials.
I repurpose, upcycle, forge, weld and woodwork, in fact I’ve worked with all kinds of materials from textile & plastics to rubber, metals & glass in the past decade.
I’ve built a wealth of knowledge, learned all the tricks and tips – and if I’m honest, I learned how not to do it the hard way!! And it took a really long time.
I wish someone had taken the time to show me the basic knowledge that is absolutely crucial for clean, precise, professional looking work in any media.
I love to create beautiful and useful things from the items others discard. I tend to work on whatever is thrown at me, I’m a firm believer that if you can master the basics of precise measuring, squaring, cutting, drilling, reconfiguring & fixing then you can make anything! I’m kinda proof of it!
Much of my work has been featured on various television shows such as George Clarkes ‘Old House New Home’ on Channel 4, and Kirstie Allsopps ‘Fill your House for Free’.
Whether you want to learn how to use tools for home DIY, crafts or even for a career change – to something more wholesome & handmade…
This course is for you.
You’ll learn everything you every wanted to know about the safe & correct use of tools, best practices, what all the buttons do on power-tools & even how to hold them & change accessories quickly & easily – so you can work efficiently with confidence.
I’ll also cover how you match certain fixings, tools and materials to each other, not to mention where you can find the tools, equipment & materials I use.
I have a great deal planned for you my friend, this is only the beginning!! This course will eventually be an online glossary of every tool, and every process I know. With quizzes and tonnes of hands on projects you can complete to further your skills, practice and solidify your knowledge until it becomes second nature.
I’ll also be visited by other fantastic makers across a whole spectrum of arts, to cover areas I have less experience of.
So you get the best possible advice from the most experienced artisan talent in the industry.
Think welders, blacksmiths, woodworkers, up-cyclers, and artists working in mediums like stained glass, ceramics & jewellery.
It’s super exciting, and I am so pleased you are here to join us!
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to get started.

We are starting with drills – one of the most common, yet widely misunderstood tools… from there the sky’s the limit!
