It’s a super easy-to-use lamp making kit that have been tried, tested and specially sourced for you – so you can concentrate on making beautiful lamps safe in the knowledge that the Salvage Sister has done all the leg work for you.

All my lamp making parts are British Safety standard, and they all work perfectly together.

If you’ve ever tried making a lamp before you will know how incredibly frustrating it is to find that half your parts don’t work with the other parts, or you have muddled up 2 and 3 core wires, or the threads don’t match!

You can use this DIY lamp kit in two ways to harness your lamp fittings in your jam jar dependant on what size/type of jar you are using, check out the images to see some of the lamps made with this kit and samples from the instructions.

Add fabric flex here by the meter, you will receive all your flex in one continuous length. My lamp kits come with 2 meters of fabric flex inc. My pendant kits come with 1 meter of fabric flex inc – if you need more add it here.

Flex Grip – hold your lighting flex firmly.

Female threaded grip with 10mm male threaded rod included – perfect for m10 lamp holders. All metal design – no plastic. Select the colour and quantity you require.

Hollow threaded M10 Rod

This hollow threaded rod is made to attach to the m10 thread on our lamp holders.

Metal Lampholder rings – to secure lampshades, preserve jars or similar to our lampholders. Choose the colour you require below.

Glass Drilling bit with Diamond chips

Drill bits designed for glass, ceramics, tiles and similar. Not for wood or metal. We use these on our bottle lamps.

Inspiration

After being asked repeatedly over the years how to make a jam jar lamp safely I decided I had to source all the lamp parts you need to make an awesome DIY lamp, and create an instruction download because there were too many people to help and only one of me!

Technical specification

All parts are made to British Standard and are made with 3 cores for UK mains electricity – meaning they are earthed & as safe as you can get.

When you purchase your lamp kits you will also receive a downloadable step by step guide with everything you need to know to make amazing Jam jar lamps yourself at home. My lamp Kits are designed to be used by adults, anyone under the age of 18 must be supervised by a competent adult.

Tools are not included – but all lamp components are! Including the bulb, lamp-holder & rings, 2 meters of fabric flex, flex grip, plug & switch

Usually a few days depending upon post service, outside mainland UK & at busy times of the year please allow a week.

Courier – Hermes usually 2-5 days.

Postage for small items like lamp kits & bottle openers – £2.99 – for one or more lamp kits

Fully insured & tracked – you will receive a notification when it ships with the details.

If the item says ‘On Back Order’ your will be sent out as soon as we have it. Our next Christmas order arrives in the 1st week of December – we will get your package to you before Christmas.

I usually use Hermes postal service which takes 2-5 once sent. All items are fully insured, tracked & packed securely.

International shipping (Anywhere outside UK mainland) 

Depending on the size of the item I may use Hermes, ParcelForce or another courier to get you the most economical price.

Super Easy - No drilling

The easiest way to use this DIY lamp kit is with a standard mouth preserve jar that the centre lifts out of – this means you don’t even need to drill a hole for your wire!

You will use the two lamp holder rings provided to clamp to either side of the preserve jar lid (with the centre lifted out – see images for example).

Full instructions are provided with detailed imagery of the step by step process to guide you seamlessly through this exciting lamp build – download the instructions on purchase, the lamp kit will be with you a few days.
