Learn the skills needed to deconstruct pallets,
before making your own pallet planter & taking it home on the day!
The Salvage Sister taught Kirsty Allsopp how to make this pallet planter on stage in front of 200 people at The Handmade Fair – if she can do it, so can you!
During this 5 hour Pallet Planter Workshop you will learn the skills needed to create your very own colourful pallet planter, including where to look for pallets, which ones work best, and how to take apart pallets and cut down ready to reconfigure into a beautiful solid wood planter.
The Salvage Sister will guide you through the build, teaching you how to use all the power tools involved and what lasting fixings to use in the garden environment.
When you’ve built your own pallet planter you will have the option to make it into a strawberry trough and leave some gaps in the sides for the strawberries to hang through, or fill the sides with pallet planks.
(You can line your planter with a hessian sack when you get home to stop earth falling through the gaps until the roots of your bounty hold it all together)
Once you’ve learnt these skills you will be able to repeat this process at home to make as many troughs & planters as you like in the future – saving you loads of cash, not to mention time & stress!

Amazing hands-on workshop – suitable for a beginner!
I absolutely loved my time at The Salvage Sister’s pallet planter workshop. As I was a complete power tool novice, I was a little worried I’d find it difficult or hold the rest of the class up, but thanks to Charis’ fun, relaxed and very helpful teaching, I came away not only with a beautiful planter (I’m so proud of it!) but also inspired to use tools at home on recycled finds. So much so, I’m already planning on doing another workshop!”

I’m sitting here gazing out the window at the planter I MADE!! I still cannot get over it, I’ve never made anything before! Charis was so patient with me, and went over everything in great detail to calm my nerves. I’ve never even used a drill before!
Thank you so much! Debby- Uckfield

One word – EPIC. This workshop has really opened my eyes to what I can create with free pallet wood! I’ve had a stack of pallets here for nearly a year & wasn’t sure what to do with them, now I’ve attended this class I feel like I can build anything!! Thanks Charis x Jo – Kent.

Such a great day!
I’ve just attended a planter making workshop and can’t wait to make more.
Every step of the process was explained in such easy to understand terms. Charis is lovely. We ran way over time, because we never noticed the time, but. Charis just let us keep going until we were finished and happy.
She explained how to use all the power tools (including the scary saws)
I can’t wait to make more and look forward to attending more workshops – TRIPADVISOR user ‘NewBarn2016’

I had such a great day at Charis’s workshop. I have never used any power tools before so was really proud of myself at the end of the day. In the beginning I couldn’t see how we could make a couple of pallets look so amazing but at the end I felt confident to make it again. In fact that is this year’s birthday presents sorted! Charis has a great manner, throws you right in there but explains everything really well and doesn’t make you feel stupid. I would definitely recommend this and I’ll be looking to attend other classes in future. Thank you for a great day – TRIPADVISOR, user ‘FurryDogMother’

I can’t thank Charis enough for making this workshop the best ever. We had so much fun. Charis is a natural teacher. She guided us through using power tools we’d never used before with such clarity & ease. She’s energetic & fun to be around. We all produced excellent planters in different sizes. I feel very proud of the one I made! I thought my measurements would be off but with Charis’s help I made a perfect planter. I want to do another workshop, maybe making a lamp from something I can find at home? MetalPetal on TripAdvisor

This was the best fun I have had in a very long time and I have come home with an fab planter that I’m really proud to have made.
For some reason I was a bit nervous of using power saws – I suppose I thought I might chop my hands off – but once Charis helped with the first cut it was like I’d been doing it all my life.
Charis was a great teacher, really warm and welcoming and very funny. She brought a great atmosphere to the workshop.
I would definitely like to try some of her other workshops. Clairer378 on Tripadvisor

The pallet planter workshop was great! Charis showed me how to safely use all the tools and helped me to construct it. She was very patient and gave me the confidence to have a go.
This is my first time making anything like this and using power tools.
I’m really chuffed with how it’s turned out! ?
